Mavic’s Aksium Elite wheels are an advanced iteration of the Aksium wheel lineage, with smart features that uphold and even improve upon the time-tested formula. Mavic opted for a sleeved rim joint that replaces the pinned joint, an upgrade that increases strength and durability while shaving 40 grams off the weight of the rim. Aksium Elite wheels use straight-pull, bladed spokes for high strength and great lateral stiffness, and employ QRM bearings that spin on Mavic’s elegant axle system, resulting in a very lightweight, stiff, and reliable wheel system.
While Aksium Elite wheels will work with a wide range of 700c tires, they are designed as part of a wheel-tire system that pairs specifically with Mavic's Yksion Elite Guard tires. The Yksion Elite Guard is a superb blend of serious grip with high cut and puncture protection. Its tread pattern improves water evacuation to perfectly complement its sticky rubber compound, and its casing is reinforced from bead to bead by a strong nylon protection layer, making it a perfect training tire.
Wheelsets and rear wheels are available with either Campagnolo or Shimano/SRAM-compatible freehub bodies. All individual wheels and wheelsets are available with either 25 or 28mm tires.
Force Transfer System Light:
Reinforcement of a key transmission component: the contact area between the pawl and the hub body is reinforced by two stainless steel inserts, which allows the use of a 100% aluminum hub body.
Qualité de Roulements Mavic:
Mavic uses only high-quality sealed cartridge bearings. On QRM wheels, these bearings feature double seals (2RS or LLU) along with tight, C3 internal clearances.
Strong & safe:
The tire casing is reinforced with an extra layer that helps reduce flats.
Usiné Brut Control:
The rim’s braking surfaces are precisely CNC machined for smooth, predictable braking and less brake chatter.
H2 involves the local strengthening of the rim in the area where the spokes exert the greatest stress. This helps ensure rim longevity and resistance to stress fractures at the spoke holes, a common failure point in aluminum rims.
