Community Involvement

Cranky's is fortunate to be part of the wonderful communities of Edmonton and St. Albert, and in order to do our part we like to give back to organizations and events that we believe in. Below are some of the events and organizations that we currently support, and we encourage you to check them out if you're interested!

Edmonton Mountain Bike Alliance

What it is: EMBA is a registered non-profit dedicated to advocating for and improving mountain biking in the Greater Edmonton area.

How Cranky's contributes: We offer discounts to individuals who purchase EMBA memberships; the EMBA membership funds help advocate mountain biking trails. We also have adopted trails in Oleskiw, including Flat Pete, Logarithmic, and BDSM. We work with EMBA to maintain these trails and engage in 3 trail maintenance days a year.

Cassette Collective

What it is: Cassette Collective YEG is a community-focused women's mountain bike club.

How Cranky's contributes: The ride leaders and organizers have a complete say in how to spend their sponsorship funding, but we always host a start-to-the-season kick-off party at one of our locations. In this event, the ladies can meet their ride leaders and learn about the upcoming riding season, and we offer them special discounts, food/drink, and information sessions for that night. We also host another Cassette Collective shopping night later in the season. Plus, offer the members a discount for the riding season.

St. Albert Triathlon

What it is: The St. Albert Triathlon is an athletic event where participants swim, ride, and run around the city of St. Albert.

How Cranky's contributes: We have a technician do a bike check on race day to help with last-minute bike repairs and assist any out-of-town participants who didn't get their bikes. We also donate prizes distributed among the participants after the race and during the award ceremony.

Kids of Steel Triathlon

What it is: Cranky's Bike Shop is the official bike sponsor for the St. Albert KOS Triathlon, held on the second Sunday in June each year.

How Cranky's contributes: As the official bike sponsor, we host a bicycle/helmet check during the week preceding the race at race package pick-up. Our St. Albert location hosts the race package pick-up on the Friday night before the race and the Saturday afternoon the day before the race. We also have a technician do a bike check on race day to help with last-minute bike repairs and assist any out-of-town participants who still need to get their bikes checked. We donate prizes distributed among the participants after the race and during the award ceremony.
